Below are the guidelines for performance attire. Many of the articles of clothing are provided by the school or SLOIMBA. If you need any assistance securing the student provided items, please reach out to president@slotigerband.org.
Students who fail to wear appropriate attire to performances may be barred from performing, thus losing assessment points for that performance.
Rehearsal Attire – Marching Band
Athletic shoes, no open toes
Appropriate clothing that should allow for movement and weather (layered work-out gear)
Water bottle, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen, if needed
School appropriate (no bare chest, stomach, or buttocks)
Performance Attire – Marching Band
(Uniform fitting is done by parent and student volunteers in August before and during band camp)
Marching Band uniform, hat and marching shoes (loaned from SLOHS Band Department)
Black socks (student provides)
White or black t-shirt (no tank tops, arm pits must be covered) (A travel uniform t-shirt will be provided by SLOIMBA. Don’t wear this under your uniform, you will need it to wear after the performance and won’t want it to be sweaty and smelly)
Lightweight shorts to wear under uniform (student provides)
*Hair must be neatly pulled up under the hat, off the collar.
*No jewelry, watches, nail polish, or excessive make-up.
Performance Attire – Concert Band
Males:
Black band dress jacket (loaned from SLOHS Band Department)
Black dress slacks (student provides)
White tuxedo-style, wing collar shirt, black bow tie (student provides)
Black dress shoes (student provides or you can also borrow a pair of Dinkles marching shoes)
Black socks (student provides)
Black belt (student provides)
Females:
Solid Color black dress (loaned from SLOHS Band Dept).
Black dress shoes (student provided)
Travel Uniform – all groups
Band T-Shirt – provided by SLOIMBA
Band Sweatshirt – provided by SLOIMBA
Replacement t-shirts/sweatshirts in the event of loss can be purchased.
Performance Attire – Jazz Band
Jazz Band members dress in all black for their performances and provide their own attire. No shorts, short skirts, skin tight leggings or spaghetti strap/strapless tops. Students can wear a long-sleeved buttoned shirt/blouse with slacks/dress pants, black socks or nylons, and dress shoes. A tie is not required. A dress or skirt/blouse combination in a below-the-knee-when-sitting length would also be appropriate. Black nylons or tights should be worn with dresses or skirts. Students also have the option of wearing the black Concert Dress that will be lent for the year.
